Minister Abetz from Federal fishers and forestry was very critical of the way NSW Marine Parks were created and managed. ECOfishers will back your campaign in any way possible.

Coffs Harbour Deep Sea Club is affiliated with ECOfishers NSW. And we are pleased to have them aboard. This is just one sample, of the massive number of submissions sent to ECOfishers, from coastal communities, from Tweed Heads to Batemans Bay, concerning the NCCs latest political attempts to lock-up additional areas around the state for the Grey Nurse shark. This government funded extreme Green group of preservationists, lost the Grey Nurse shark court case.  The judge determined the east coast population of Grey Nurse sharks, "is most likely to be somewhere between 500 and 1,500. However it might be more." One expert witness called by ECOfishers, estimated at least 3000! The evidence produced by the NCC was found to be unreliable.
Now they are mounting a political campaign, to achieve what they lost in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. And they are government funded, with our taxes!!!
Your ECOfishers has an appointment with our Minister Macdonald, to put the scientific, economic, social and ecological arguments, AGAINST any additional or extended closures. Let robust science determine the outcome NOT "unreliable evidence," or Green myths.  CEO

AND we even have emails from overseas, objecting to the NCC's outrageous proposals. ECOfishers goes international! Apparently there is a businessman in Singapore, who regularly holidays at South West Rocks, just for the fishing every year. And he ain't happy either......... . CEO

Les sorry plight when small business is sacrificed for unscientific and unpopular green ideals.
Not to mention recreation activities and lifestyle taken from the dinki di, true blue Aussie battler by a political party founded by the same battlers.
The Australian way of life is disappearing to Radical ideal. We must stop it now?HuhHuh

Mr Jack Tait
President
Coastal Rights Association
PO Box 572
Batemans Bay NSW 2536.

Dear Jack and members,

Re: Proposed Grey Nurse shark extended closures, Tollgate Islands.

On behalf of the recreational fishers of NSW, we thank you for your submission (4/11/07) concerning the NCC?s demands, to increase to 1.5km, the current fishing closures at the 870m western and 960m northern areas, of the Tollgate Islands.

Thank you for your timely submission. ECOfishers has already made a number of representations to Fisheries Minister Macdonald about these issues and a meeting is planned in the very near future.

Jack, while we are confident we can make a robust scientific case NOT to implement these additional closures, the NSW government may have other issues to consider as determining factors, such as preference deals, for example.

It would also be another huge betrayal of community trust and credibility, if the NSW Dept of Environment, was to rezone the Tollgate Islands so called sanctuary zone, outside the five yearly rezoning review, due in 2012, to accommodate the NCC?s outrageous demands. And especially so, when the MPA has refused to correct other glaring and obvious anomalies, in Zoning Plans, outside the mandatory five yearly review.

Thank you for your contribution. It is greatly appreciated. You are assured it will be given vigorous promotion and support at our meeting with the minister.

PS. Avail yourselves of the information and data on the NSW recreational fishers website at, www.ecofishers.com  Please feel free to contribute to our website,  in any way you consider appropriate.

Regards and best wishes,
Ken Thurlow

And the good guys win again. ECOfishers, making people part of the solution, dazzled the extreme green NCC with facts, figures and solid science. More green myths exposed, exploded and extinguished. And they aint happy!
