Thanking you kindly again, Phil (AAG) It appears we may be making more appointments with Ministers for marine parks and Fisheries in the very near future. Our Fisheries minister has a poor record in Cabinet, for standing up for the rights of NSW recreational fishers. We still remember the unanimous vote of "NO" we secured at the ALP Dubbo Country Conference, concerning the Cape Byron Political Park. Did the ALP Head Office take any notice of it? Not one little bit. They have a deal with the Greens they must honour!

Imagine, (and prepare yourselves) for the following scenario. The Labor government reviews the Zoning Plan for the Solitary Is Marine Park. The recommendation from the Greens is to increase the percentage of so called sanctuary zone from 12.5% to at least 30%. So that's what they do. 30% so called sanctuary zone! That's what the greenies want. It doesn't matter what the fishers or the community wants. They have a deal with the Greens for preferences, every election. So the coastal community of Coffs Harbour and environs, gets whacked with 30% sanctuary zone and it CAN'T BE REVIEWED FOR ANOTHER 10 YEARS!! Clearly folks, something besides, these pointless, ridiculous, so called sanctuary zones, has to go!
The community wants marine parks they can use - not be locked out of!

Incidentally, the Jervis Bay Marine Park review has also been completed. We must get some information from our South Coast ECOfishers and ascertain how that review is progressing. Has it gone to the Minister for marine parks yet?
Really, it is totally irrelevant what Marine Park Advisory Committees decide. Just have  a look at any of the Zoning PLans from any of the government marine parks. Not one of them bears any semblance to what any Advisory Committee proposed or agreed.

The Marine Park Authority used increased tourism to support the establishment of the SIMP and then increases in no take zones in the review. Some rather dodgy surveys were used to support their claims. How long before we see an application for a Marine Park levy?

A tourism levy could be introduced in Coffs Harbour to help prop up the industry on the New South Wales mid-north coast as domestic tourism drops.

The greenies are saying lots of people are coming to Coffs to see the marine park. Funny thing that, the view I see off Coffs Harbour hasn't changed in decades! And I am there frequently.  Interestingly, the tourism officers cannot support the greenies claims! These green extremists will say anything, anywhere, any time. That's why nobody believes them!
