The NSW Marine Park Authority (MPA) now has created an unresolvable credibility crisis for itself. Using shonky science and rubbery data, they have attempted to con the community concerning the so called benefits of their marine parks. They have been scientifically exposed as the charlatans they are. That particular document has been hastily withdrawn from their website.
Fisheries biologists and marine scientists think the MPA is a scientific joke and the thinking community simply shake their heads when marine parks are mentioned. All they can think of is a massive con that attempted to hoodwink the unsuspecting public. Faith based advocacy tarted-up as science and thinly veiled tarting-up at that!
When the community hear "marine park" now they just think of scientific fraud. It is a self inflicted credibility crisis for sure!
A shame really, for when we really do need fair dinkum marine protected areas, the community simply won't accept them.

Is it any wonder the citizens of NSW get dud decisions with government marine parks? A couple of marine park dudes rock up into an unsuspecting coastal community and start to tell  them what they can do, where they can go, and what they can and can't harvest. This small group of "blow-ins," then set about re-zoning the community's lives. Any MPA consultation with the locals is pure tokenism. They consult only because they are required to by the EPA Act. And they take no notice whatsoever, of what the community requires. So how are you ever going to get good governance and appropriate decision making out of that sequence? You're not! And you never will. It is designed that way!
