Ian MacDonald was on 2CC Canberra radio talking about the artificial shark breeding program.  Works for Wobbygongs apparently, and they are now ready to try the "artificial womb" with the GNS.

Interestingly, he said GNS numbers were "only around 500" in NSW.  Must have selective memory....

Macdonald is one of Labor's "lefties." He typically sides with the Greens myths and legends. Clearly he hasn't read the judgement from Justice Downes in the now famous Grey Nurse shark court case. But then again, why would he? Can't let the facts get in the way of an emotional story!
As for his artificial uterus, well that's another "story."

BREAK THROUGH! Another win for ECOfishers! GREY NURSE NUMBERS NOW UP TO 1000! Fisheries Minister Macdonald, last night on national television, (24.2.09) referred to the East Coast population of Grey Nurse sharks as "being up to 1000." ECOfishers has made repeated representations to the Minister, concerning the numbers, after the Grey Nurse shark court case, where ECOfishers represented NSW  recreational fishing families. The penny has finally dropped for the Minister and he is now quoting facts! Our next target is the ABC, who continue to thoughtlessly run the "fewer than 500," line still promoted by the greenies. Clearly they lost the case they brought against NSW commecial and recreational fishers.
SCIENCE, FACT AND TRUTH TO THE FORE AGAIN - at last.  Well done again, ECOfishers! Making people part of the solution.

Macdonald already has a copy of ECOfishers media release titled, "Grey Nurse Sharks (and Leopards) Don't Change Their Spots." So he is up to date with current research and numbers. Now, we wait to see if he uses it or not!

Has the research that the ECOfishers media release quotes, been published in a journal or online?  I'd like to read it.

Thanks.
