ECOfishers, the voice of NSW recreational fishers, is hosting and  facilitating, a meeting of all fishing groups, concerning the latest disastrous fish kill.
Presentations will be made by scientists and engineers, concerning the causes, effects and solutions.  We are affording you the opportunity, to question the experts.
The meeting will be held on Wednesday, 12th March commencing at 7pm, in the ?Richmond Room,? Regatta Avenue, Ballina.

This issue concerns every fisher in the region, because the Richmond is our greatest nursery area for estuarine and offshore species. The riverine ecology, simply cannot continue to suffer these  repeated fish kills, and remain viable! Hence, your attendance, in numbers, is urged. We plan to put in place long term measures to reduce the impacts of flood events on the estuarine and marine biodiversity.
The latest information and technical reports, concerning the current river closure and its extent, will also be available at the meeting. ECOfishers is representing you and your Club, on the Fisheries Minister?s Committees.

BE PART OF THE SOLUTION ? ON MARCH 12th IN BALLINA.

                                                                    Ken Thurlow

BE PART OF THE SOLUTION:  Now there's a meeting every fair dinkum fisher from the Northern Rivers ought be attending. It will provide the community the opportunity to do something constructive about this appalling situation of repeated fish kills, every time there is a flood or fresh in the river.
It is up to you. Do nothing and the mighty Richmond remains as an argicultural drain and ecologically dead, or be part of the solution which puts community and political pressure on the Government to address this issue. After all, they can find tens of millions of dollars for their mickey mouse marine parks, which do nothing, absolutely nothing, to address the real problems in the marine environment. They simply lock the problems in and lock the community out.  And here is one of the  real problems staring them in the face. So what are they going to do about it?  I reckon we can make them an offer they can't refuse - or be very embarrassed politically, socially, morally, economically, environmentally and any other "ally" you like. So be part of the solution. Come along and have your say. The extreme Greens are bound to be there grandstanding , as usual, but not doing anything other than whinging and whining and trying to convert everybody. So it could be interesting!!  Personally, Iwouldn't miss it for quids, but then again, they tell me, I'm one of the few fishers that ISN'T apathetic!! And I don't want to fish in an ecologically dead drain, when there is a real chance of saving it. How about you??
