FLOOD PROFILE: The diagramatic synopsis of a flood profile (above) represents only ONE of many contributing factors to the all to prevalent fish kills. That profile does not ake into account the fatal impacts of vast volumes of "acid water," nor the lethal impacts of the mass of "Monosulphidic Black Ooze," (MBO's) which emanates from the drains, on the freshwater, estuarine and marine biodiversity. MBO's are so toxic they kill everything, from microscopic organisms, to the top predators.  Now, every oyster in the Richmond system has carked it and the acid water hasn't even reached the river yet. Already some returning species of fish, are showing signs of Red Spot Ulcers - another fatal by-product of acid sulphate soils.   CEO

Re: "Politician Takes Pot Shot etc"
SERIAL WHINGERS, the Greens, who constantly sit on the side lines and constantly snipe, (and don't do anything constructive) are now unhappy with Fisheries Minister Macdonald. It was only twelve months ago, the same rabble was attempting to con the community that we had to have their marine parks because fish stocks had crashed from overfishing. Their marine parks were supposed to be the saviour of the few survivors of our fish stocks, where they could breed in so called sanctuary zone nest boxes, preserved from family recreational fishers. These serial whingers have the solution in their own hands if they are unhappy with the NSW Labor government. It's simple. All they have to do is stop doing preference deals with the Laborites and everybodies problems would be solved.
The Greens comments are again an example of pure political opportunism - anything for a news grab! (But don't get their hands dirty, by positive contributions)
ECOFISHERS  MAKE  PEOPLE  PART  OF  THE  SOLUTION!

E$VANS RIVER NOW CLOSED TOO. 8/2/08.
The Evans River is now also closed to all forms of recreation, until further notice. The decision was made by Richmond Valley Shire Council on health grounds. High contents of Coliforms including E Coli have been detected in the river. It is unsafe to even enter the water.  All forms of aquatic recreation, including fishing, are now banned, until further notice. A sad and sorry state of affairs for yet another far north coast estuary and recreational fishers. Shit happens!

Don't some people draw some "funny" conclusions from what's been organized, said and published? Who's friend is this bloke?

EVANS RIVER RE-OPENED: Richmond Valley Shire Council , today announced the Evans River, (at Evans Head) was now open again after being closed because of sewage and septic tank, pollution in the river. Personally, I'd still be very wary.
