The locals "Reservoir Mark," is what the NCC call Spot X. They call it that because they don't even know where it is. That doesn't seem to matter to them though. Preserve it by locking it up forever, throw away the key and they are stoked. Nor does it matter to them that fishers, divers and shark scientists have never ever, recorded a Grey Nurse shark visiting that site. They simply prefer the misinformation and emotional nonsense. No wonder recreational fishers WON'T disclose other Grey Nurse "pit stops," to ANYONE! In the AAT hearing the NCC had this huge coloured map of NSW with each of the 18 sites they wanted locked-up, colourfully and closely marked on their pretty map. When I spoke to them about their "Spot X," they didn't have a clue about it's precise location, instead confusing it with the Julian Rocks. What their map didn't show either, was the sites that already have government Sanctuary and Habitat Protection Zones around them. No wonder the judge didn't want to see it. The three or four representatives of NSW recreational fishers, that attended the AAT hearing every day, had a good laugh about it. And thank you to Ballina's Warren McAlpin, for the contribution and the warning. It is very much appreciated. You have just alerted the locals, right here! Will the NCC be looking for anecdotal evidence from Kaos Reef, off Evans Head now?
