An item on the Agend for the NSW Labor's Caucas meeting of 7/12/07 was "Marine Parks." With the veil of secrecy surrounding these meetings, we have no way of finding out. But we continue to wonder if that agenda item was in relation to the new marine parks they are planning in the Hawkesbury Shelf Bioregion, (Newcastle to Wollongong) and the Eden Park on the Far South Coast. It will be most interesting to see the reaction of our city brothers and sisters, if and when, they cop a marine park, imposed over their favourite family fishing spots!
We are already hearing whispers and rumours lately, that some city fishers are supportive of the NCC's efforts to lock-up the 18 sites for the Grey Nurse shark. It's about time they read the science, then if that's the case. Magic Point off Maroubra, is the only one in their back yard and it has already been closed to commercial fishing . But because they are only rumours at this stage, I wont repeat them.    CEO.
