Remember the March 22nd '07 huge ECOfishers public meeting, at the Mingara Club? Director Lindsay was right! We told you about the Greens' plans. We told you about the promises and the pitfalls, we told you it would happen - that it was only a matter of time. Well now, here it is - CONFIRMED! Central Coast, join the Club!
The government funded, extreme green National Parks Association is demanding:-

"That a large Marine Park, (94,000 ha) from The Entrance (at the south head of the entrance to Tuggerah Lakes) in the north to the southern end of The Royal National Park, in the south incorporating all estuarine and coastal waters to the 3 nm limit of the NSW marine jurisdiction, be established and zoned appropriately."

Happy days family fishers! This is the way they all start. The greenies announce their demands, (in exchange for green preferences) some government minister denies it, ("We have no plans at this stage, to have a marine park on the Central Coast") and suddenly and out of the "blue", it is announced and confirmed by government! That's how they all started, at Byron Bay, at Port Stephens and at Batemans Bay. And ECOfishers dealt with them all, on behalf of NSW recreational fishing families. Be alert and be alarmed. You have every need to be!
ECOfishers has vast experience and expert and scientific personnell, in dealing with these government marine parks, from a grass roots level, to a ministerial level. Yes, we have marine scientists and fisheries biologists, as members of ECOfishers. We are the most experienced and the largest representative group, representing your interests.   Well! How do Central Coast recreational fishing families now feel about the gigantic marine park proposed by the greenies, which will include the Central Coast and extend all the way to Wollongong?  Now the proposal is in your backyard folks, and the greenies want it all cut and dried before 2011! There must be an election again in 2011. Even more worrying is the fact that a couple of local Opposition members there, are in fact in favour of the government marine parks and see nothing wrong with them at all. Now that is a serious concern for Central Coast recreational fishing families.
ECOfishers will have to do something serious about that too, for you all.
