The National Water Commission engaged Snowy Mountains EC Australia, to undertake a short term, "desk-top," review on the identificaton and definition of issues associated with improving urban water supply security in South East Queensland (SEQ.) and North East NSW, by accessing waters from the Northern Rivers of NSW.
The review recommends five options for further investigation. Four of the five options, are based on storage and transfer from the Clarence River, whilst the fifth (and cheapest) is based on storage and transfer from the Tweed River catchment.
   OPTIONS:
  a) Duck Creek (Urbenville / Bonalbo) piped to Logan River Qld to deliver 100,000 ML per annum.
  b) Mann River Dam, pipe to Logan River (Qld) and to deliver 100,000 ML per annum.
  c) Mann River Weir, pipe to Logan River (Qld) and deliver 50,000 ML per annum.
  d) Tweed Dam, pipe To Nerang River Qld and deliver 20,000 ML per annum.
NOW THE CURIOUS THING ABOUT THIS RADICAL PROPOSAL IS THAT THE MAYOR OF THE QLD GOLD COAST, RON CLARKE, SAYS THEY DON'T WANT THE WATER. IT'S NOT NEEDED! So who is Malcolm Turnbull trying to kid? Is this simply another political stunt? Are there more votes (and seats) for John Howard, in South East Qld than Northern NSW?
