Already 60 tonnes of sea mullet have been harvested by beach haul fishers at South West Rocks. Scott Mitchell of South West Rocks advises, with recent rains it could be a bumper year for sea mullet. Currently, sea mullet are being sold to the Sydney Fish Market at $2.20/kilo for the crew. Most of the roe is exported, where, at the Tokyo Fish Markets in Japan, it is currently retailing for $600/kilo.
