POSITIVES FROM THE ELECTION: With counting still incomplete, Shelly Hancock, (Libs) holding the seat of SOUTH COAST, reports a swing of 6% to the Liberals, away from Labor. Also Andrew Constance, holding the seat of BEGA, for the Liberals, reports an early swing to the Libs from Labor of at least 5%. And curiously, there was a swing of at least 4% to LABOR, in the seat of KIAMA!
Did the swings away from Labor have anything to do with Labor's marine Park at Batemans Bay? Yes, everything! ECOfishers campaigned there!
Congratulations to all Sth Coast ECOfishers and our supporters, for your efforts. However the job isn't finished yet! We've now got four more years of "hard Labor," before we can finish the job! Thank you one and all. You'll be hearing from us again.....real soon!

Although the seat of Kiama has fallen to Labor it has lost 5.23% from the 2003 results and the Greens are down .21% (at this stage)

If this trend stays for the remaining 7,000 vote count then it would be fair to say that The Fishing Party with its current 4.04% has taken their primary votes.

The Fishing Party had 60 onground volunteers from mothers to fishermen who manned all but one booth in Kiama. This is a great effort by a last minute candidate and his campaign organisers.

It won't be long before the final bell rings when we can all dissect the results of what happened and what could have happened.

I would personally like to thank all those in the Kiama area who unselfishly dedicated the weeks and day to get The Fishing Party noticed. More will come in the washout. Please don't destroy the 200 signs as we will need them again this year in the Fed election

LOCALS advise the figures posted are irrelevant. Kiama was one of the electorates to undergo a redistribution, they say. They are still claiming a 5% swing to Labor. Additionally, they are also claiming their local member is now, "in line for a ministerial posting, with such a magnificent swing." Does anyone know if he fishes? He might score Fisheries. And he couldn't be any worse than the cow-cocky, non-fishing person, we've currently been suffering!
Meanwhile, ECOfishers are still awaiting details from colleagues in the  Sth Coast and Bega electorates, to see what dent ECOfishers made there, in Labor's and the Green vote.
PS. Did the Shooters Party do well? Did they ever. Picked up another seat! And just have a look at their vote from some of the metropolitan areas. City slickers and guns?

MEMBER FOR KIAMA elevated to the Ministry.  Matt Brown, the Labor member for Kiama, has been rewarded for his 5% swing to Labor with a Minister's job. He is now the Labor Minister for Housing!
