CENTRAL COAST COMMUNITY: The Bioregional Assessment of the Hawkesbury Shelf is well under way - despite denials by Labor that it wasn't going to take place.
                                            Fisheries scientists were instructed some time ago to undertake the task and they are currently working on it. They were even working on it in November last year, again, despite denials by Labor politicians! Now a Bioregional Assessment is a pre-cursor to the establishment of one of Labor's marine parks. The Hawkesbury Shelf Bioregion doesn't have one of Labor's marine parks....yet! And the Central Coast is right slap bang in the middle of the Bioregion. (Stockton Beach to Bass Point.) Now, what's the betting, if Labor is returned on March 24th, the Central Coast will have a marine park announced almost straight away? The Greens have targetted the Central Coast and were disappointed when it wasn't included at the same time as Port Stephens. Remember the Greens want up to 50% of our coastal and estuarine areas, locked-up in sanctuary zones, by 2010, BEFORE the election in 2011! It's all on the public record. And if Labor wins on the back of Green preferences, you can be guaranteed that's just what they'll do. Anything to stay in power.
   SO, ANYONE WHO USES THE MARINE ENVIRONMENT, DERIVES AN INCOME FROM FISHING RELATED TOURISM, FISHERS COMMERCIALLY, OR IS IN THE TOURISM BUSINESS, CAN'T REALLY AFFORD TO MISS THIS VERY IMPORTANT MEETING. THE REAL FACTS AND FIGURES, THE REAL SOCIAL, ECONOMIC, RECREATIONAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS AND IMPLICATIONS OF LABOR'S MARINE PARKS. AND THE GREEN MYTHS WILL BE EXPOSED AND EXPLODED TOO.                                           CAN YOU REALLY AFFORD NOT TO BE THERE?

  All local POLITICAL candidates have been invited to answer your question. Crikey! What a night it's going to be! And you can bet the extreme Greens will be there, promoting their candidate(s) by asking the usual and typical "Dorothy Dix," questions. So tell your friends about the meeting. Let's all rock up. Let's make it a night the Pollies remember and the crowd does too. It's guaranteed to loads of fun, and only a day or so outfrom the election....the election that will determine our lives for the next four years! See you there!
  WILL THE CENTRAL COAST GET A MARINE PARK? You betcha! But only IF the Labor government is returned. And we can all change that. For if we all do nothing, then, nothing will change! If the Coalition is re-elected, they have guaranteed to HALT the marine park roll-out! Think about that!

Not all minor party candidates will be speaking at the meeting.
However, those who turn up may participate in the Q&A session.
For information on the significant party's view of fishing see Item Coalition Marine Park Policy under ECOfishers where answers to The AAG's six questions from Labor, The Greens, Lib/Nats coalition and an independent are posted. Note the Greens 30% no-take sanctuaries if they are in any position to hold 'power'.
Confirmed speakers as of this posting are:
Ken Thurlow & Geoff Ruse (ECOfishers);
Robert Smith (The Fishing Party);
Phil Walker (Liberals).
Grant McBride Labor Minister for the Central Coast has been invited but a response has yet to be received.

Ken
ps Our local CC Convenor has fished Port Stephens waters for over 30 years. ALL (100%) of the places he fished are now no-take sanctuaries. Don't let that happen to YOU

Directions from Wahroonga, Sydney (start of F3 Expressway) to Mingara Recreation Club

  • Stay on the F3 passing Gosford and Ourimbah exits (approximately 45 minutes from the start of F3).
  • Exit the F3 at the Wyong/The Entrance exit turning right onto Cobbs Road (passing Westfield Shopping Complex at Tuggerah (on your right).
  • Continue travelling to 'The Entrance' (on Wyong Road) passing through 11 round-abouts, until you see the Mingara Complex on the right hand side.
  • Turn right at the Wyong Road/Mingara Drive round-about (McDonalds Restaurant is on your right) which takes you to the front entrance of the Club and car park.
