Marine Park Apology

Read this in conjunction with Prof Bob Kearney's latest seminar, (NSW Fisheries 30/10/08) and the new problem the Labor government and their Marine Park Authority face is credibility among the community. Citizens now hear "marine parks," and constantly think of scientific sham and con. It had to happen. You simply can't fool all of the people all of the time.
ECOIfishers believes we do need properly designed marine protected areas that are site specific scientifically based, locally managed, address the real threats to the marine biodiversity and are based upon sound science not ideology, green myths or "magical thinking" (- wishing it so makes it so!) And community participation MUST repace the MPA's farcial, shameful, so called consultation!
