Ask why there is NO PUBLIC available information on Bouddi Marine Park (Sanctuary) just north of Broken Bay. It's been in existence for over 20 years.
If anyone has any reports that I can get, please PM me and the Central Coast ECOfishers group will make use of it.
Ken
Ps Debus was publically challenged in newsprint to produce reports justifying sanctuaries based on Bouddi but none was forthcoming. maybe it proves sanctuaries don't work here OR Debus is incompetent in not having studies done locally?Huh?

KEN :  Dr BILL GLADSTONE of Newcastle University has done a brief "snapshot" study of Bouddi. It is referred to as the "Gladstone Study." A copy was made  available to our previous CEO for posting on this website, as far as I know. If you can't find it here, you should still be able to get a copy from Newcastle Uni.

Hi,

The Gladstone report was mentioned in page 2 of the marine parks thread:
http://www.fishnitis.com/fishing-board/index.php?topic=3.15

There are laso various articles about it in various AAG's newsletters over the years. If anyone is interested I can dig them out.

I must have a copy of the report at home somewhere.

Thanks Pi and CEO. Unfortunately Newcastle Uni HAS NOT responded in any way to our requests, neither have Fisheries OR Debus. Here, we have drawn the conclusion that either Debus (Iemma Party) is incompetent or has misled Parliment when he claimed that adequate protection exists in the Hawkesbury Bioregion.
regards
Ken
ps Phil, you have my e-mail address, I'd certainly appreciate anything you can provide!!!

KEN: The $1 million Bioregional Assessment is still on and currently being conducted by NSW Fisheries scientists, (Hawkesbury Shelf Bioregion) despite more lies and denials by Labor's Bob Devious!

INITIAL REPORTS from the Hastings district public meeting, clearly indicate ECOfishers "wowed" the crowd. One high profile attendee described it as "Challenging, highly iteresting, informative and entertaining. The way Ken Thurlow handled the Greenies was superb!"
ANYONE ELSE WHO ATTENDED, PLEASE SHARE YOUR COMMENTS AND VIEWS HERE. Those of us who couldn't get there would love some feedback, especially about the Greens. Was the local Green candidate there, ( as we've heard) and what happened?

                                                                                       WANTED.
A copy of the PORT MACQUARIE NEWS for Monday March 5th. It contains a report on the Hastings District ECOfishers public meeting from 3/3/07. We are all interested in what he Greenies have to say about the meeting. They were there and got a pretty torrid time. Dazzled with science ...and humour!

GREENIES  GRIPE:  The only "factually inaccurate information," put forward was by the Greens candidate for Port Macquarie, Susie Russell. The crowd continually laughed at her, "misinformation, misrepresentation and scaremongering." And as for her slant on climate change, the CSIRO marine scientist and Oceanographer present, answered her tales of "imminent doom and gloom," by explaining to the enthralled crowd, that global warming actually meant an increase in biodiversity. Global cooling, (as the Greens were predicting in the 1970's....yes I've been around a long, long time ) means a decrease in biodiversity.
The Greens candidate was typical of the fanatical, extreme, anti-fishing Greens. She was simply and  totally overwhelmed by ECOfishers science. And the crowd loved it!
No tempers flared. Everyone had a thoroughly informative and entertaining evening, and they loved every minute of it.....except the Greens. And no-one "attacked a conservation group." ECOfishers IS a conservation group - the largest in the state! (16,000 members) But the "preservation groups," did come in for a torrid time, including the NPA!
Well done everybody concerned, especially Mid North Coast ECOfisher, Maurie.

ECOFISHERS  MEETINGS  ARE  A  GREAT  WAY  TO  REACH  AND  INFORM  THE  PUBLIC.  THEY  WORK!
P.S.  Labor's Bob Devious apologised for his non attendance.
