MID NORTH COAST & HASTINGS ECOFISHERS PUBLIC MEETING: Any other suggestions / recommendations for the meeting, (1/3/07) ECOfishers? Proposed new Grey Nurse Shark Critical Habitat Zones on the mid north coast? Greens demands of 50% of our coastline in sanctuary zones, by 2010. Scary isn't it.

I urge the committee of the fishing and recreational parties to demand answers of parliament on the effect of them facilitating the Marine Parks via the the UN AGENDA 21 legislation, signed by Howard in his first term....available on line at UN Agenda 21 - Chapter 17 - protection of the Marine environment http://www.un.org/esa/sustdev/documents/agenda21/english/agenda21chapter17.htmIt is important that the public are told that places such as the Tweed were studied as the model for implementing these international laws into our Australia.... but we were never told.....check out at http://www.alga.asn.au/policy/environment/sustainability/ To see how this was trialled in the Tweed go to http://www.environment.gov.au/esd/la21/guide/index.htmlAnd scroll down to select Tweed Shire.... It is important to remember that at the time the AGENDA 21 was signed there was no FREE TRADE agreement (privatisation)...and that many of the Aussie Eco laws we have impacting on us now were not developed into the greenie whip they have become, and then used so ruthlessly against us.....but the point is the AGENDA 21 binds us all now... I urge the party to demand full disclosure to the Australian People on how this effects the removal of stewardship of our local marine environments and gives it the global powers to control.....Ask them why they sold us out

Looks very much like Hastings / Port Macquarie will be starting their own ECOfishers group, as a result of the up-coming public meeting. And all because of the efforts of Mid North Coast ECOfishers. Well done Maurie. You're a real champion. CEO

MID NORTH COAST ECOFISHERS are concened that the Greens are organizing a "rent a crowd," to turn up at the Port Macquarie public meeting to heckle and disrupt the meeting. ECOfishers welcomes, even encourages vigorous debate, but we will not tolerate unlawful or disruptive behaviour from anyone. So let's meet them head on. Be there.

I think it's great that Ecofishers is holding a meeting in the Hastings and it would be good if an effective group could be formed out of it and I agree Maurie is a champ. It seems he done a lot of work and that's a credit to him. However, we already had a committee of 6 people formed ages ago. Three of these people weren't even informed that there was a meeting and we are a little disappointed that there has been no communication towards us especially considering we were the only 3 to turn up when we tried in vain to get a local ecofishers up and running in the Hastings. I'd also suggest that very few people in the area except FCA members know there is a meeting being held. Only one tackle shop out of five in Port knew about it so I hope you can get some numbers there so Duncan Gaye and Co know we're serious about our fishing in the Hastings. Good luck, I sincerely hope it goes well.

HUGE. I suggest you communicate directly with Maurie, please mate. This may be just the boost your group needs. We are very keen to facilitate and re-establish the original group. Grab the initiative and give Maurie a hand. He'd love some help. Please feel free to promote the meeting yourself, especially thru local tackle shops, and everywhere else. For if we all do nothing, then nothing will change! Write a letter to the editor of the local paper, etc. There's plenty to do Cobber, so get involved and go for it! We look forward to seeing you and your mates there, on Thursday. I understand the ABC is running an item in it's regional news on Monday (26/2). Use other radio stations also. Ring up and have a say! It's your fishing future that is at stake here. The local tackle shop in Byron Bay went broke at Xmas time because of Labor's marine park. The local tackle shop in Lennox Head is for sale and they can't even get a looker - because of the Labor's marine park. Tell your tackle shop mates that news too. Fifty locals have had to sell their boats because they don't have anywhere to fish for eight months of the year. The other fifty are having trouble selling theirs, because no one wants to buy a boat in a town with a Labor marine park, because there is no where to fish. The rest of them are having trouble maintaining their outboard motors, that can't be used for eight months of the year, because there is nowhere to fish in Labors marine park! Sound serious! Bloody oath! This is what happens when the Labor government imposes a marine park on coastal communities. And all to suck up to the Greens for preference votes to maintain their slender majority in the Upper House. That's why one million NSW recreational fishers don't TRUST Labor or the Greens! And the Chamber of Commerce is very concerned because their Xmas - New year turnover is way down to billy-o. All because of Labor's marine park! CEO BE THERE!

The organisers have invited Labors minister Bob Debus to the meeting to make a presentation, "The scientific justification for Labors marine parks." Now that is a must see, must hear presentation. After all it was Debus who announced to the state from the Byron Bay Lighthouse, that Labor's marine parks were to protect the whales, turtles and dolphins! As the minister responsible for those animals you would have thought he would have known they were already protected and had been for years! Now doesn't that tell us all something about lying Labor?

I, and many other fisho's, would walk many miles across hot coals to hear the current environment minister, Bob Devious, attempt to justify, scientifically, Labor's reasons for locking family recreational fishers out of Labor's marine parks! THAT IS NOT TO BE MISSED!

ABC RADIO, on the Mid North Coast and North Coast, have been promoting our public meeting on Thursday evening, via their News Bulletins. How are you promoting it?
