I was sent this as a member of the Coastal Rights Association.  Might be another opportunity to get the hearse out again, hey Tarki?

To All CRA Members,

Mr. Bob Debus, NSW Minister for the Environment, will be visiting the Eurobodalla Shire next weekend the 6 and 7 May, but will NOT be consulting with the general community over the Batemans Marine Park.
This will be our opportunity to show him just how angry we are at the way this whole Marine Park issue is being handled by him, his Department and the NSW Government.

He is scheduled to be at the Luhana Motel, 82 Princes Highway, Moruya at 10.00 am on Sunday 7 May and we want to have as many people as we can possibly get there to demonstrate to him just how angry we all are, and how many people in the community are against what he is doing to our coast.

Please, if you can possibly be outside the Luhana Motel, Moruya by 9.30 am on Sunday 7 May then be there, bring your family, friends, neighbours, the family dog or anyone else you can persuade or cajole into coming.   We want everyone that we can possibly get to show support for what we are trying to achieve.

We have been promised that all forms of the news media will be in attendance so let's have a really good show.

Best Regards,
Len Tompkins
Secretary CRA.

  PROTEST  POSTERS  AND  BANNERS:
Don't forget a whole host of cardboard posters and placards. Black and white is the most effective and the easiest to make. Lettering needs to be a minimum of 10cm high black and bold.  Start making them now. Kids love making them. Remember, it's NOT an art competition!  It's a short, sharp, pointed message. Tug the heart strings. Play on emotions. Use the word "family."  Carry them and whack them on guide posts, poles, trees, any structure at all, BUT BE SURE TO REMOVE AND COLLECT THEM WHEN YOU'VE FINISHED!  (Don't want any littering problems from highly respected ECOfishers!) Don't be frightened to use phrases like "Devious Debus," and "Bob Devious" and "Lock-up Lock-out Bob" etc Make it a lot of fun. Get Police permission (essential) if traffic is likely to be disrupted.  If I can help from afar, just ask. Been there, done all of that.   Tarki.

G'day Tarki,
Thanks for the good advice I shall pass it on. The police have been advised and are considering bringing the riot squad. NO JOKE that's what they said.

RIOT SQUAD ANSWERS GREENY THREAT TO DISRUPT PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATION....makes a good headline doesn't it. ECOfishers would never be involved in anything other than a lawful, peaceful demonstration.  Tarki.

The area commander called the local radio station when we had the port stephens meeting, we assured him there would not be a problem, well how could there be when the the local community can get up to 700 people to oppose the park but the greenies only managed to get 10 people to attend their meeting, really makes you wonder how they manage to get their way when we outnumber them at 70 to 1. Makes a good argument to join ecofishers to present a united voice.

ROOKIES,  use the genuine Police concern to your advantage! Makes a great headline in the media! Try RIOT SQUAD ALERT. FEAR OF DISRUPTIVE GREENIES, etc or something as emotive. It's all a free kick and the "old retired gentlemen," maintain the underdog status and the moral high ground.   Tarki
