Political duck shoving - ducking and weaving. This is a classic example of the political flick pass!
What has emerged however, since the hung-parliament issue, is that the government is not keen to pursue this issue, at the moment, because they got an absolute thumping at the polls, over this issue, from coastal electorates.
Currently they have no chance of getting their AFA's passed by the Senate, because the Coalition holds the balance of power there, only until June next year.  Then the new Green senators take their places, and the balance of power swings back to the Labor government. That's why the government has put this issue well and truly on the back-burner, until June next year, when they can be guaranteed success in the Senate! So this vexed and controversial issue hasn't gone away. It has just been parked.
