Well, the Australian people have exercised their democratic right and spoken through the ballot box. They have given the Federal Labor government a real drubbing! In a democracy, the people never get it wrong, despite what the Labor campaign managers claim! The people have spoken, but is the government listening? What do you think? And in the Federal seat of Cowper, which takes in Coffs Harbour (SIMP,) the greeny candidate is already belly aching and whinging about the fishermen! He had a swing against him and is blaming the fishermen (sexist) for"running a fear campaign against him." Well he is right about that. We were fearful. Fearful of losing our fishing grounds. It also reinforces what a powerful group we are, when we all pull together about a common cause, for the good of all NSW recreational fishers, both male and female! So what are your views about the election results to date??? And don't dispose of some of those slick ECOfishers slogans I saw around the ridges. We could all be back at the polls again, before Christmas!

Those ex-Labor voters who were discontent with Labor and rather than voting coalition or independent voted Green must now be crying in their spilt milk. The demands from the Greens will start immediately. Gay marriages, sanctuary zones and legalise drug use to mention a few.

What has Gay marriage and legalising drugs have to do with fishing? This is a site for fishers and fishing. As stated in another post today ECOFISHERS in non political and promotes fishing, that's all.

This is exactly what the Greens are about and Fishers on the Central Coast should be concerned, prime area for a new Marine Park.
Central Coast Express
BUOYED by a strong vote in Saturday?s Federal Election, Greens candidate Peter Freewater has announced that he will run in the next state election.
With 80 per cent of votes counted early this week Dr Freewater, received almost 6500 first preference votes on Saturday and said he felt the experience was a good warm-up to the state election.
?I?m feeling really good about how I went and how The Greens did here on the coast, both in Robertson and Dobell,? Dr Freewater said.
?I received almost 9 per cent of first preferences, which means we doubled The Greens vote in both Robertson and Dobell.?
Dr Freewater said he found it interesting how vital a role his preferences played in the Federal Election.
?In Robertson the Green vote was critical, because it was the Green vote which got the Labor Party over the line.?
While voters in Robertson are still waiting for Labor?s Deborah O?Neill to declare herself the winner, Dr Freewater has already turned his focus to the state election.
?I will be running as a candidate in the state election and I believe I will win,? Dr Freewater said.
?I know I will be the underdog, but I?m confident I will win.?
In Saturday?s Federal Election Dr Freewater received almost 8.8 per cent of the primary vote, a swing to The Greens of more than 1.5 per cent.
However two other independents - Jake Cassar and Michelle Meares - campaigned primarily on green issues and siphoned votes away from Dr Freewater. As a stand-alone Green candidate he could have polled about 11 per cent.

.....and with a name like "freewater," now that's a real contradiction! Realistically, I don't think the biodiversity or ecosystems on the Central Coast need protecting from anything, not like other regions of the state. For they are already protected by onshore Labor. Apparently, when that happens, our marine biodiversity and ecosystems don't suffer the same impacts, as elsewhere in the state!
