ANY DECLNE IN OUR FISH STOCKS IS NOT RELATED TO RECREATIONAL OVERFISHING! It is directly related to habitat modification and destruction. Find out more, the science, the facts, and what ECOfishers is doing about it. Go to fishhabitatnetwork.com.au and contribute. Plenty of scientific data there to keep the extreme preservationists re-thinking their lock-it-up mentality! Your ECOfishers organization is one of the major stakeholders in this innovative approach to fisheries management. "ECOfishers - rebuilding ecosystems."

GREAT ARTICLE on the Northern Rivers page of the fishhabitatnetwork.com.au titled "The rain on the plain causes fish pain." If you ever wanted to know something about the impacts of poorly designed, managed and sited flood gates, on poorly designed and managed flood mitigation drains, you should read this article by Ms Charlotte Jenkins. Compulsory reading for all ECOfishers. Just imagine what the fishing could be like IF all these habitat probnlems were addressed. Marine parks wouldn't even be thought of! At least $33 million of our taxes wasted on mickey-mouse marine parks. Imagine the remediation work that could be done with on-ground works in regional areas, addressing these real issues and problems. It would even create employment for some of those neuro-surgeon greenies, who still can't get a real job!

NOTE: Thoroughly researched scientific evidence clearly demonstrates the more healthy habitats in our creeks, streams, rivers and estuaries, the more fish and crustaceans will be produced. Unfortunately, we have lost to agricultural drainage, floodgates, acid sulphate soils and development, over 90% of our coastal fish habitat, 90% of our riparian zones are degraded, 50% of our vital seagrass beds have been lost, water quality is very poor and there are thousands of barriers to fish passage! Want to find out more? Want to find out what can be done about it? Want to find out if this cycle can be reversed? Want to find out how? Then you need to be at the Tamworth Habitat Conference in May this year. Who wants more fish anyway? Who wants them to be easier to catch? Anyone? Fish for the future? HEALTHY HABITATS = HEALTHY FISHERIES!
