Marine Park Authority and Floods

From local Coffs News;
Coffs Harbour Mayor Keith Rhoades says crews are out clearing debris from the last flood in a bid to make sure drains are clear to cope with the new weather event.
There has been significant build-up of silt in the mouth of Coffs Creek in recent years and that is a major worry.
The Mayor says a problem with artificially dredging a channel, is that the estuary falls under the control of the Marine Park Authority.
"A lot of people sort of stand there and look at it and say, 'Well, why can't something be done?'," he said.
"But people have to realise at the same time that there are a lot of approvals that have to be obtained first.
"Even though there's a lot out there and I can put my hand up and say, 'I'm one of them', that if you've got an issue and it's blocking water up - well, unblock the water and allow it to flow because otherwise you're causing damage."
