The objectives of the NSW government marine parks, (according to the Marine Park Authority,) are :-
  1)  "Conserve marine biodiversity and maintain eccological processes
 2)  Provide for ecologically sustainable use, public appreciation, education, understanding and enjoyment, of the marine environment."
ECOfishers has no argument with these altruistic and noble objectives at all. Our major concern is HOW DOES THE MPA MEET THESE OBJECTIVES? And we invite the greenies to contribute and comment also. The major impacts upon our marine environment (again according to the MPA) are :-
 a) Pollution (in all its forms.)
 b) Some agricultural practices
 c) Coastal development
 d) Introduced (pest) species.

Well, they conserve marine biodiversity by taking underwater photos, of cunji, shrimps, molluscs, etc and then frame and file them. That's called "conservation!" Then they kick family recreational fishers out of their traditional fishing spots. Yet they are unable to identify any threats to the fisheries resources or associated ecosystems, from recreational fishing! And they have the hide to call that science! What liars. No wonder non-compliance is rife. No wonder locals ignore the draconian rules and regulations and the MPAs Fun Police. Bad rules and regulations will always be ignored and no amount of political spin, or green myths and legends, or heresay, will change that!

So how can they realistically conserve the marine biodiversity WITHOUT addressing the major impacts?
