Progress association attacks Lake Cathie call

The National Parks Association has come in for stinging criticism from a New South Wales mid-north coast progress association.

It comes after the conservation organisation called for Lake Cathie, south of Port Macquarie, to be declared an aquatic reserve.

The president of the local progress association, Jack Jones, says the green group should not push for something it does not know enough about.

"It was part of the National Parks Association marine park for an area along the north coast. It actually included Lake Cathie, to declare it a 'no take' zone which meant no fishing, no nothing in there which is fairly ridiculous because the whole estuary system needs a proper arrangement," he said.

"Putting a 'no take' zone in there I don't think they really understood what they were talking about."

Spiney, that Torn Blue Fringe isn't dead and buried by a long shot. The (united) greenies are still lobbying both sides of politics, for more and expanded marine parks. They have a constant barrage of meaningless media releases and deputations to pollies. Because recreational fishers don't respond either in the media or in a united way in their representations, pollies think there isn't a problem.  While fishers remain silent, apathetic and disunited, the greenies will win all the time. Just have a look at their track record. They are a mile in front and that has all been done with scientific fraud, misrepresentationn and stunts. That's what ECOfishers has been asked to change and we will! We are exposing the green myths and legends, for all to see.
