ECOfishers has already arranged with Dr Will Robbins, for a copy of his paper on sharks and magnets, to be posted on our website, as soon as it becomes available. ECOfisher, making people part of the solution.

ECOfishers, there has been some "research" done on this technique, from South Africa. There is also a company (South African origin we understand) marketing a shark exclusion device for surfers, which is attached to surfboards and allegedly repels sharks, by emitting an electro-magnetic field, around the surfer. We would be interested in the field trials from South Africa's Great White waters and to see if there were any survivors from the "control," phase of the experiment! Or couldn't they get any volunteers?

Yes, we will secure a copy also, of John Stewart's "Sardines," (Blue Pilchards?) paper too, as soon as it can be made available. We were talking with John again, earlier in the week.

And what happened to the virus, some years ago now, that decimated Western Australia and South Australian stocks of Blue Pilchards? A Herpes strain of virus, some of us seem to recall. Or did the implementation of marine parks (introduced pests) solve that problem too?
Incidentally, Southern Bluefin Tuna, have now been successfully bred in captivity, in tens of thousands, in South Australia. One large Tuna Company, has finally perfected the technology. Now that is worth an environmental award. Thanks to a South Australian ECOfisher watcher, who became an ECOfisher friend, during the recent AAA Fishing Championships, in South Australia.
Talking awards. ECOfishers is considering running a series of awards night, next year. We had an informal one a couple of years ago, when Minister Bob Debus was presented (in his absence) with a "Liars Licence."  It was the only fun we got out of the declaration and imposition, upon another reluctant coastal community, of another government marine park.

Green advocate and global warming speaker Al Gore is attributed to this little gem. "It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. It's the impurities in our air and water doing it".
CEO does he collect an award?
Next question "do fishers qualify as impurities?"

We think we have ample candidates locally OO, without going international just yet. There will also be encouragement awards, for fishers who have made significant conributions to our cause. We like straight shooters and frank talkers, people who can call a spade a spade without leaving any s..t on the shovel and still get things done, for NSW recreational fishers! Doers not gunnas. And then there would be a category for environmental awards too. How can we accommodate the NPA's Torn Blue Fringe? Maybe it is a matter for the Fair Trading Commission because of false representation etc.
We will talk with some of our sponsors.
