And Ken Smith, President of the Byron Bay Deep Sea Club, would know. His family fishing Club, only gets to use 0.01% of the government's political park and only for 4 months of the year. They only have three more sleeps before that tiny area of unproductive reef they are allocated, reverts to government sanctuary zone for the remaining 8 months of the year. Yet the commercial prawn trawlers get to use 53%, at least, of the same government political park, all year. Every night if they choose to! Everyone is still waiting for the greenies to explain that, in terms of "conserving the biodiversity!" No wonder non-compliance is rife. No wonder the locals ignore the draconian rules and regulations. For bad laws can never be effective. And no wonder they treat the MPA "fun police," with contempt and ridicule.
