Nice to get some acknowledgement from Local government, for a contribution over many years to Shire matters and Advisory Committees. ECOfishers is represented on a number of Local government committees and Advisory Committees in Byron Shire. Why? Recreational fishers need to be represented on all issues including Estuary Management Committees to Coastal Management Comittees. The greenies are on every committee and drive a lot of them . ECOfishers is there to supply the science, the common sense and represent the locals, as oposed to the blow-ins. If recreational fishers aren't represented in your area, chances are, the greenies will be rolling you there at that level too. We are all proud of our CEO's achievements and representations for and on behalf of, northern rivers recrational fishing families.
Unfortunately he won't be able to attend the Civic Reception. He will be somewhere between Tweed Heads and Sydney at the unending series of meetings with politicians, public servants, university staffs, ecofisher members and supporters, chambers of commerce, Shire council meetings and fishing club meetings. "Such is life," with apologies to Ned Kelly!
