This report was dated 2006.
Has there been any follow up??
for instance since the Batemans MP I DONT go there any more as ALL my spots found over 30 years are sanctuaries and the local community misses out on some $2000 each year from me.
Similarly one of my mates doesn't go to Port Stephens anymore as ALL his spots found over 40 years are sanctuaries and the local community misses out on some $5000 each year from him.
regards

Our advice to date is that the Ernst & Young Report has proven to be spot on. After all it was prepared by experts. Perhaps some of our South Coast ECOfishers can provide more details of businesses that have gone to the wall, besides the three Bait & Tackle shops and the fishing charter business from the government's Cape Byron Political Park. Then there are the 50 small boat owners who still can't sell their boats and motors, because no one wants to buy them. There's nowhere to fish for 8 months of the year. Of course if you talk to government departments about this you will only get more political spin and lies. That's what the mayor of Kempsey, Mr Bowels got and sadly he believed it. Maybe he wanted to!
