Congratulations Soba for organising this rally against an unreasonable, unscientific and uneconomical marine park. Have you invited Anna?
Should be no shortage of angry fishers meeting you at LAVARACK AVENUE, EAGLE FARM at 10AM for the DRIVE THROUGH THE CITY on SATURDAY FEBRUARY 28TH 2009.
What and a BBQ at the end of it? You boys certainly know how to complete the day.
" if everybody does nothing---- nothing will be done."
Soba you have the full support of ECOfishers.
For full particulars read posting on this site.

I'd like to say thanks to ECOfishers for the support of our rally on behalf of all recreational fisherman & SOBA  Wink

We need unity to fight those that will appose us, to the bitter end !

With ECOfishers and SOBA working together I firmly believe we will be a force to be reckoned with, very soon !

Damien.

PS: The joining of two States to reach a common goal for all Recreational Anglers is a stepping stone. It can and will be done !

Remember this quote from a fellow SOBA memeber !

Remember that a lone amateur built the Ark.
A large group of professionals built the Titanic

Great initiative SOBA! ECOfishers supports direct action of this type. Congratulations to the recreational fishing families of Moreton Bay. Stand up for your rights folk.s - for no one else will
Why are recreational fishing families of south east Queensland, being treated like second class citizens by their government?
Who is managing the fisheries in Queensland? Is it still DPI or has the government handed it all over to the Dept of Environment?
We were all told that government marine parks were to protect the marine biodiversity NOT to manage the fishery! To ECOfishers, this is distinctly managing the fishery by another government department!
Where is the site specific science, to justify excluding recreational fishing families from their traditional fishing grounds, in Moreton Bay? Where is the "impact statement?"
                                         SHOW US THE SCIENCE!
                                        ECOfishers supports SOBA!

SOBA - we hear there is another amateur single handedly building another one of those Arks in FNQ at the moment. We hear he is from Babinda! Whether (or should that be weather?) it will be ready for your boat rally on 28th we don't know. What we do know is that he won't have any trouble launching it!.

Quick Update

Things are going exceptionally well and I am quietly confident of getting a bigger turnout to the rally then previously !

We have had a win with the Media !

A SOBA member will be interviewd on 4BCs Talking Fishing with QLD identity Nugget on Sunday 15th. Not sure what time but the show runs from 5am - 7am QLD time.

.............and don't forget to play the underdog. "Why are we being treated like second class citizens?" etc. You know how to do it! Good luck! There's plenty of talent among your ranks.
PS Will the rain and low pressure system delay the Ark? If it doesn't arrive on time, a model Ark with the quote about the amateur and the Titanic would still be great street theatre!

The Amateur's Ark has a crew flying the common flag both north and south of the border. Carrying the same message "fishing Sustainably"

Captain Anna Bligh and the Ark. Is there likely to be a MUTINY in Moreton Bay over Capt Anna Bligh's handling of the marine park issue? What great street theatre and the media will love it - absolutely! Go SOBA and go hard!  Another BLIGH MUTINY!
