ANSA has the following under "Disqualifications" as well:
Mutilations caused by sharks, other fish or propellers that remove or penetrate the flesh. (Injuries caused by leader or line, scratches, old healed scars and regeneration deformities shall not be considered disqualifying injuries).

The either / or option, ie cleaned or not cleaned, seems a perfectly reasonable and sensible compromise. We've got a member chasing it up with the NSW AFCA state captain, tomorrow.

Personally I prefer to clean my fish asap after catch, I can see credit in a length based category, especially with dusky flathead.

Yes, we all can Row, especially for Duskies. We must get scientist, Lachlan Barnes report (Dusky Flathead) up here on our website. We've had it for months. In the meantime ECOfishers, please release the big ones unharmed. They are the big fertile, female breeders.

Now that we have "cleaned up," that issue, so to speak, look forward to a new topic to be posted on Sunday evening. A topic you can all have a point of view about - after all you have heard enough about it, over the last five years at least. And it's a topic the greenies have cut down dozens of precious trees over, to make paper, promoting their side of the issue - as misinformed as it may be.

NSWFCA ruling regarding this matter as supplied by committee member "gilled & gutted fish are allowed to be weighed-in in state competitions, but there is no allowance made for loss of weight and they are not a mutilated fish unless their backbone has been broken in the cleaning or breaking of the fishes neck. A mutilated fish is a fish that has a broken backbone or has been bitten by a shark or something and then the remaining head section has to exceed its legal length by 30mm" thanks to Allan Cannon

Thank you OO for clearing up the bloodied waters. It is to be hoped some of the FNC fishos keep themselves up to date via our ECOfishers website. (Everyone else does!)
