New shadow minister, new approach and a definitive one at that. At last a breath of fresh air for the state's suffering recreational fishers. A great start - a moratorium on any or all new marine parks. That's what ECOfishers has been lobbying for - plus an independent scientific assessment of all existing parks to justify the draconian restrictions on recrational fishing. Seems we have a new group now reading our website! Well everyone else is so why not? It's undoubtedly the best place to stay in touch with grass roots recreational fishers, their needs, wants and aspirations.

Is anyone else talking to their local Coalition member, about government marine parks? As an Opposition they surely must have an alternative? Try them and post their /your response for all to share.

Further confirmation of ECOfishers long standing objections and rebuttals, to Labor's marine parks, as a conservation tool
ECOfishers were the first to raise this issue, by a country mile, and our stance has always and  consistently been confirmed, by marine scientists and fisheries biologists. Other groups have since joined the ECOfishers bandwaggon. Previously, some even supported Labor's marine parks! They didn't have a Labor marine park imposed upon their communities, so it didn't matter much to them. Some were also Labor appointees to various roles and didn't have the guts to ( or knowledge) to look at the evidence objectively!
"....MARINE PARKS ARE EXTREMELY UNLIKELY TO BE COST-EFFECTIVE TOOLS FOR THE MANAGEMENT OR THE CONSERVATION OF FISH SPECIES IN NSW."     Kearney, on the "Torn Blue Fringe."

AGAIN WE CAN EMPHATICALLY AND PROUDLY SAY, "WE TOLD YOU SO!"

And for as long as the Labor government continues its charade and cover-up, we will continue our campaign to expose it!

JOIN ECOFISHERS & BECOME PART OF THE SOLUTION - DON"T REMAIN A PART OF THE PROBLEM!

FOR IF WE ALL DO NOTHING - THEN NOTHING WILL CHANGE! That simply means more marine parks and more needless lock-outs, of NSW family recreational fishers.

and "A fundamental flaw in Winn's whole approach is exposed by his acknowledgement that pollution and habitat alteration are the first two of his identified three causes of the problem and yet he proposes to do nothing about them. Instead he advocates for more fishing closures, usually under the conveniently misleading title of "sanctuaries," or "protected areas."
Kearney, on Winn's (NPA) "Torn Blue Fringe." p 55.

ECOFISHERS TO MEET AGAIN, WITH CATHERINE CUSACK MLC, SHADOW MINISTER FOR CLIMATE CHANGE & SUSTAINABILITY.
Hmmm, we wonder what that could be about ? Marine parks ?
Could be, after all, ECOfishers represents NSW recreational fishers and it is ECOfishers that have always been at the forefront of putting some science and fishers, back into government marine parks! Sounds very interesting, doesn't it? Could it be that there are some policy issues involved here? Join ECOfishers and become part of the solution - and find out!
ECOfishers, working constructively and co-operatively, for NSW recreational fishing families.

Green politics in a nutshell Opal. Insidious, ingratiating, conniving and undemocratic. Why should the citizenship not openly lobby it's political representatives (of whichever persuasion) to pursue their aspirations. It's a fundamental right and it is preferable to the 'backstreet abortion' style politcs you Opal obviously prefer, like planting moles in the offices of OUR elected officials. You make me retch with your holier than thou attitude when the games you engage in are so repugnant and downright damaging to our democratic system.

Love,

Clive

That's right Opal. As representatives of NSW recreational fishers it is our role and function to meet, negotiate, argue, justify, etc, our case for the benefit of NSW rec fishers and our fisheries resources. We will meet with anyone, anywhere, anytime, to represent and further our cause and get the best results for NSW recreational fishing families.  And we do! That's why and how, we make people part of the solution. And that's what one milion NSW recrational fishers want us to do and we shall continue to deliver.
We even tried to arrange a meeting and debate, with your friends in the NPA, to finally rip up their Torn Blue Fringe, but strangely and sadly, we haven't heard back from them. Can you give them a hurry-up please? ECOfishers will meet them anywhere! And fishers aren't murderous - they have never been charged!
PS.There's not much of the essential Omega 3 in tofu!

why would we waste our time going to an ecofishers meeting to be embarrassed, offended and insulted by hundreds of grubby fish murderers while thurlow revs up the crowd with his myths and legends? we know. we have been. you ecofishers just don't get it. hanging around ministers offices, up and down from parliament house, always in the media, bashing greenies at every opportunity. our fish stocks are overfished. our oceans are dying. our marine parks will save what's left of them. you people make us sick. torturing and killing our defenceless marine creatures and you call it sport? get a real hobby and a real life. opal

Ceo / Opal,
What the punters would like to see is some affirmation of exactly what the opposition is offering in respect to Marine Parks.
Will they commit to change zoning rules - if so how will they change them?
Will there be a suspension of zoning rules in part or full whilst the proposed full independant scientific assessment of Marine Parks is completed.
Although the election is some time away it would be good to see how far the oposition is prepared to go to ensure the anti-marine park vote.

What the states recreational fishing families would like to know Opal, (never mind the punters - they often back losers!) is why you think our fish stocks are overfished and our oceans are dying? Where is your evidence? Where is your science? And don't trot out the tired old, Torn Blue Fringe. It has already been shredded by experts - real scientists. Perhaps your are confused with the Dead Sea in the northern hemisphere. Some of that stuff some of you people smoke, for your recreation, does funny things to people's brains!
