The Greenies have announced the Bundjalung Marine Park - from the Richmond River to and including the mouth of the Clarence at Yamba.
Bye-bye more recreational fishing! Any National Park or Nature Reserve that fronts or adjoins a marine park, automatically becomes a so called "sanctuary zone." South Ballina Beach Nature Reserve, Broadwater National Park, Bundjalung National Park, Iluka National Park etc, will all be locked up! And the list goes on.

So, are we now about to see the start of a Bundjalung ECOfishers group to alert the community to what the socia,l economic and environmental consequences are ?
We should! It's the only way to answer these extreme green challenges and proposals!

North Coast Greenies prepare to defend their Bundjalung Marine Park with a series of warm green fuzzy stunts. The same sort we saw in Port Stephens. Models of Leafy Sea Dragons, turlles, dolphins and whales etc. ECOfishers hopes they don't forget the algae!
ECOfishers is ready and waiting for them. ECOfishers is armed to the teeth with sound science, economic, social and environmental reasons, as to why NSW marine parks are total duds in terms of protecting the biodiversity and associated ecosystems.
No one wants marine parks like that - not even the greenies.
ECOfishers has always supported marine parks that address the real issues having negative impacts on our marine environment. Impacts like pollution, harmful agricultural practises, coastal development habitat modification and introduced pests. And we all have seen plenty of the above in recent years in and around Evans Head. The river was closed to everything for a week again this year because of E-Coli contamination. Now wouldn't it be great if Labor's marine parks addressed the real issues instead of locking out family fishers and hoping the real problems will go away. They won't!

Crikey! The Yellowfin Bream has a greater mass than the Flathead, Tailor or Snapper. Is that why the green extremists are demanding Broadwater Beach be locked up and fishing banned?

Crikey indeed!  I know where I should go for my next holiday - "Broadwater Beach, home of the 8kg Bream"!

The green extremists from the government funded National Paks Association, advise that a new marine park in the Tweed-Moreton Bioregion, (there are 3 there already!) Bundjalung Marine Park, would run from about "Snapper Point, south of the town of Evans Head and North Head, west of the town of Iluka, totalling at least 21,800ha, be established and appropriately zoned by 2011."
The Richmond River Nature Reserve, the Ballina Nature Reserve, the Clarence Estuary Nature Reserve, Yuragir  National Park and Jerusalem Crk -  and all waters fronting and adjacent to these sites, be declared as "no-take Aquatic Reserves, equivalent to sanctuary zones."

HOW ABOUT THAT? NO RESEARCH. NO SCIENCE. NO CONSULTATION. NO DISCUSSION. NO LOCAL IN PUT (except with the local greenies) JUST LOCK IT UP, LOCK THE FISHING COMMUNITY OUT and THROW AWAY THE KEY!

All this from a remote city based bunch of greenies that have the ear of the NSW government and for a promise of green preferences to Labor, for marine parks. And none of them are in Labor held seats???

BOMBING RANGE: What these city based greenies don't know or understand, is that slap BANG in the middle of their Bundjalung marine park, is a bombing range! (Commonwealth territory)
It is here that the RAAF "top guns ," from Amberley and Williamtown RAAF bases, on a monthly basis, have their target practise. They practise straffing, gunning, bombing and rocketing targets on the water and beaches - right in the middle of the greenies Bundjalung marine park. Now what was that plaintive green plea, about protecting and conserving the marine biodiversity?? Obviously NOT from the RAAF's fly boys!! What a joke. An absolutely ideal place and time for a greeny stunt demonstration, on a bombing day and night.

A NEW GREEN THEORY:    Can we now add another theory, to all the green theories about government marine parks, (including the theory of "spill-over," from sanctuary zones) and rightfully call it the "BIG BANG THEORY" at Bundjalung?
Because the greenies don't have any science to support their outrageous claims, they rely on theories, you know, if it sounds good and is emotive, it must be right. Everyone chants it three times and then they believe it - faith based nonsense!

Is it only the Evans Head community concerned about this issue?
What is the attitude of the Casino, Lismore, Ballina, Iluka and Yamba fishing clubs to this extreme green demand? Are they just going to whinge about it in the pub? Achieves a lot, that does. Meanwhile, the greenies and the government are robbing you blind. What are you paying a recreational licence fee for? Soon you won't have anywhere at all to fish. Apathy solves nothing. Whinging among your mates over a schooner or two in the pub costs a bit but for a nil return or outcome.

WE are fielding increasing numbers of enquiries from concened recreational fishing families about the proposed Bundjalung marine park. The greenies are apparently already active at the Heads telling business people that a marine park will increase tourism and fishers will have 70%  of their park in which to fish!! What they aren't telling them is that 70% will be all unproductive sand areas and most of it will be way offshore!! And that the most productive family fishing spots will be locked up in so called "sanctuary zones."
Businesses go broke, fishers locked out, - imagine what that will do to iconic fishing villages like Evans Head and Iluka?
And the greenies are telling the locals they will work with the government to get the best deal they can for the fishers. Hey! What's wrong with the fishers. Why would they rely on a bunch of greenies to get the best deal they can for them? Why would the fishers even believe a word they say? Why can't the fishers do their own negotiations?
Well they can. That's what ECOfishers is for. We don't need a bunch of greenies doing our negotiations for us. We'll do our own thank you and the issue is non-negotiable! Why? Because there is no science to support the greenies demands. Fishers are not the slightest bit interested in overseas studies transposed on Evans Head, (Are they?)
Is there something wrong with fishers who fish Evans Head to Iluka? Let's hear from you!
