Hi Guys
I am a Sutherland Shire Based fisho concerned about the effect Marine Parks will have up and Down the East Coast, what can us Sydneysiders do to assist?
cheers
Chris
PS, I have added a link on my site back to EcoFishers and also posted the link on a number of web forums as i know there are many that would like to get involved but are unsure how/who and what to do.

Chris,
Any group of people can form an ECOfisher branch. We own the brand but as long as the group shares the same philosophy and main policies there is no problem sharing it. We are big on common sense conservation (with sustainable use) and are dead set against preservation (lockouts).
We are happy to refer preservationists to the Wilderness Society or similar!
So far we have eight groups with eight more in the pipeline.
Sydney deserves half a dozen or more groups. There have been enquiries form your area and I am waiting to see if they go ahead.
If you want to do something in this regard you will have our support. You will need half a dozen committed people as your core. Then we call a public meeting in your area. We will do the advertising. ECOfishers supply speakers as needed. The aim of the meeting is to inform people of the issues and form the group if the interest is there, which it will be.
The group operates autonomously within the loose framework mentioned above and ECOfishers can provide help and guidance as and when you call for it. Locals know the local area best and we are not going to push in. It has to be driven by locals.
You will be able to get a full picture as to our structure, what we are about and our approach from the web site when it is up and running.
The main quality we you need to be a group executive is passion.
Never underestimate the capacity of a small group of people to change the world. Just imagine what an army can do!
