Michael Bingham,
Capital Works & Environmental Officer.
Byron Shire Council
Mullumbimby NSW 2482.
Dear Michael, Re: Vallances Rd Project.
ECOfishers NSW, enthusiastically supports the essential riparian rehabilitation, fencing, revegetation and accompanying weed control.
Each of the components cited above, are necessary precursors, to the establishment and maintenance of improved water quality, in the Ox Bow lakes and connection to the Brunswick estuary.
The vital link between a healthy and robust riparian zone and improved water quality is well established. And so it follows, better water quality means greater biodiversity of the aquatic habitat. That’s exactly what fishers and the community desire.
Recreational fishers are delighted with the work and progress to date. The riparian rehabilitation proposed, is an essential component of the total integrated program. Hence we totally endorse and support Council’s continuing efforts in this regard. Further financial assistance shall be provided.
Yours faithfully,
Ken Thurlow
CEO ECOfishers NSW.
