Attention: Ms Jude Mason. re: Vallances Rd, Mullumbimby.
Rehabilitation of ox-bow lakes; Brunswick River. Lot 1 DP 129374

Dear Ms Mason,
ECOfishers seeks to draw you attention to the urgent need to undertake rehabilitation works on the two ox-bow lakes at Vallances Rd, on the Brunswick River.
Similar ECOfisher initiatives elsewhere in the state, have resulted in vastly improved habitat and survival rates of a number of estuarine dependent species. This particular site is recognised as a prime Australian Bass spawning site, while ECOfishers has the deep hole
on the big bend under scientific monitoring and investigation, by the University of NSW, as a critical "mulloway refugia," for juvenile Mulloway - stocks of which are currently under some pressure from suspected environmental causes. Both Australian Bass and Mulloway are valuable and highly important recreational species.
Such remediation will enhance the aquatic integrity of the Brunswick system and add new dimensions to our riverine biodiversity and ecosystems.
ECOfishers can secure a grant of $30,000 to support this vital project. The re-opening of area to natural tidal inundation and flushing is essential for the successful of our proposed remedial ,works. ECOfishers highly commend this initiative, with our financial offer, to
Council.

CEO ECOfishers NSW.
